Did you know there are four species of gar in Texas? The one pictured above is a spotted gar that resides in the Heard wetlands. The water clarity in the Heard wetlands varies depending on weather conditions and other factors. During some times of year, the water becomes very clear and you may often be able to see a variety of wildlife, such as this gar, swimming through the water.
